Location: CYMT is a remote working environment with our operational office in Brentwood, Tennessee. We have staff located across the country. Some travel is involved.
Objective: Develop and lead programs that equip leaders for ministry with children (elementary) and their families. Lead CYMT children and family grant initiatives. Support CYMT efforts to develop resources for parents/caregivers and youth in marginalized communities.
Supervision: The Children’s Ministry Program Director reports to the Sr. Director of Strategic Development and works with all CYMT staff to accomplish the CYMT mission.
Responsibilities:
- Educational Program Development
- Oversee the Children and Family educational concentration tracks by:
- Collaborating with the CYMT Graduate and Certificate teams to develop children and family ministry-based educational tracks.
- Develop educational modules (workshops, classes, courses, webinars, etc) in Children and Family Ministry
- Adapt the CYMT Youth Ministry Practicum Workbook into a Children and Family Ministry Workbook
- Teach and facilitate workshops and classes inside and outside of the CYMT community.
- Ensure culturally competent support (coaches, materials, programs) for current and future children and family ministry students and ministry partners.
- Current Children and Family Grant Initiatives
- Recruit and lead a Children and Family Ministry Design Team that:
- Researches parental anxieties related to faith formation, discovers age-appropriate reflection methods, and understands how different sociocultural contexts impact parental roles.
- Designs and prototypes curriculum and programs with local congregations
- Recruit and support congregations prototyping congregational ministry that bridges faith formation at home
- Create tools and resources that equip parents/caregivers for theological dialogue with their children and youth at home
- Develop and prototype a curriculum to connect children more deeply to worship
- Relational Networking & Recruitment
- Build relationships and bridges between CYMT and key individuals and organizations who can help us accomplish our mission with children and families.
- Support and participate in CYMT’s recruiting, marketing, and sales efforts by promoting CYMT’s programs and resources
- Represent and promote the CYMT at ministry training events
- Annually recruit 3-4 Children and Family students into our programs.
- Use HubSpot systems and tools to track your network contacts.

Qualifications:
- 8+ years of children and family ministry experience in a church or non-profit setting
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant field
- Masters degree in theology or related field (preferred)
- Experience teaching and training ministry leaders
- Demonstrated relational network and networking capabilities
- Experience in engaging in cross-cultural dialogue
- Proven strong verbal and written persuasive communication skills

Grant Funded Position: This position is funded by a Lilly Endowment, Inc. grant through December 31, 2029. CYMT intends to make the position permanent on our staff, which will require additional grant funding and/or sustainable income from the project.
