Position: Youth Pastor

Location: Quinn Chapel African Methodist Episcopal (A.M.E.) Church, Chicago, IL

Reports To: Senior Pastor

Status: Full-Time

 

Job Summary

The Youth Pastor at Quinn Chapel A.M.E Church will lead and oversee the youth ministry, providing spiritual guidance, support, and development for young people, from cradle to college.This individual will work to create a dynamic and engaging environment where young people can grow in their faith, build meaningful relationships, and become active members of the church and community.

Job Requirements
Key Responsibilities

Leadership and Vision:
Develop and implement a comprehensive vision and strategy for the youth ministry aligned with the church’s mission and values.
Inspire and equip youth to live out their faith in daily life.

Program Development:
Plan and lead youth services and Bible studies.
Organize and oversee youth events and outreach activities
Develop and implement programs to encourage spiritual and personal growth.
Partner with other leaders who work with youth.

Relationship Building:
Build meaningful relationships with youth, providing pastoral care, mentoring, and guidance.
Engage with parents to support the spiritual development of their children.
Collaborate with church staff and volunteers to foster a sense of community and belonging.
Volunteer Management:
Recruit, train, and mentor volunteers to assist with youth programs and activities.
Ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all participants.

Administration:
Manage the youth ministry budget and resources effectively.
Maintain accurate records of youth attendance, events, and activities.
Communicate regularly with parents, church leadership, and the congregation about youth ministry plans and needs.

Spiritual Growth:
Model a Christ-centered lifestyle and spiritual discipline.
Preach and teach the Word of God effectively to youth and families.
Provide spiritual guidance to the full congregation as a member of the ministerial staff.
Encourage youth to participate in church services and activities.

Qualifications

  • A strong and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • A love and passion for leading children, youth and families into a relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Previous experience in ministry, youth ministry or a related field.
  • A positive, outgoing personality with strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • A self-motivated work style and a growth mindset
  • A solid track record of consistently and effectively planning, managing time, communicating and following through.
  • Ability to to organize and coordinate services and events;  ability to exercise judgment and make decisions
  • Bachelor’s degree in Youth Ministry, Theology, Christian Education, or a related field
  • Commitment to the mission and vision of Quinn Chapel AME Church
