FLSA Status: Exempt

Position Type: Full-Time/Regular (Hybrid), some nights and weekends required.

The Opportunity:

Atlanta Pride seeks an enthusiastic and thoughtful individual to join its small, dynamic team as a Volunteer and Program Coordinator. The ideal candidate will bring experience in volunteer recruitment and retention, program development and management, and a passion for LGBTQ+ equity. As the Volunteer and Program Coordinator, you will be responsible for a broad range of tasks that support multiple staff members, showcasing your strong drive for service. You will also play an important role that requires close collaboration with teams across the organization. You are an innovative self-starter who possesses impeccable organizational and time management skills. The Volunteer and Program Coordinator reports to the Director of Communications and Community Engagement with dotted line responsibility to the Executive Director.

Key Responsibilities:

Volunteer Management:

  • Develop and implement strategies to recruit, train, and retain a diverse and enthusiastic volunteer base, including the creation of an annual volunteer engagement strategy.
  • Coordinate volunteer schedules and event assignments, including support for the Atlanta Pride Festival and Parade and year-round programming.
  • Organize and lead volunteer orientation and training sessions to ensure readiness for various roles.
  • In collaboration with the Development Manager, support a program for corporate partners’ employee resource groups to encourage volunteerism with Atlanta Pride.
  • Maintain an up-to-date database of volunteers, tracking participation and contributions.
  • Recognize and celebrate volunteer contributions through events, awards, and communications.

Program Coordination:

  • Assist in planning and executing year-round programs and events that align with Atlanta Pride’s mission and 2025-2027 Strategic Plan, including workshops, panel discussions, and community gatherings.
  • Collaborate with staff and community partners to ensure programs are inclusive and impactful.
  • Manage event logistics, including securing venues, coordinating schedules, and overseeing day-of operations.
  • Collect and analyze program feedback to continuously improve offerings.

Community Engagement:

  • Build relationships with local organizations, educational institutions, and businesses to promote volunteerism and program participation.
  • Serve as a point of contact for volunteers and community members, addressing inquiries and concerns promptly.
  • Represent Atlanta Pride at community events and meetings as needed.

Administrative Duties:

  • Support the development and management of volunteer and program budgets with the Atlanta Pride team.
  • Prepare regular reports on volunteer engagement and program performance.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures, including safety and accessibility standards.

To excel in this role, you are:

  • Dedicated to serving and uplifting the LGBTQ+ community in metro Atlanta and across the Southeast.
  • An effective communicator, in spoken and written word, with diverse individuals, including business and community leaders.
  • Comfortable working and building productive relationships with members of diverse communities.
  • Proficient with standard office software, particularly Google Workspace applications (e.g., Gmail, Drive, etc.), Microsoft software (e.g., Word, Excel, etc.), volunteer management software, and social media platforms.
  • Comfortable with a flexible schedule to ensure relationships are fostered with volunteers and community partners.
  • Familiar with the metro Atlanta area and local nonprofit sector.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree, at least one (1) year of volunteer and program management experience, ideally large-scale events or festivals.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of best practices in volunteer management and program evaluation, with the ability to make recommendations for improvements.
  • Multilingualism (especially Spanish) is an asset.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Comfortable working in various environments, including outdoor event settings.

Compensation:

The salary range for this position is between $52,000 – $57,000, based on experience, and includes a generous benefits package:

Travel: Less than 10%. While the position is hybrid, a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to the organization’s office in Decatur and other Atlanta Metro areas are required.
