About the Role
Are you a nonprofit subject matter expert who has deep domain expertise at the intersection of nonprofit and technology? Are you excited about changes in nonprofit and how technology is enabling a whole new approach to engage donors, program participants, grantmakers and outcomes managers? Are you a visionary thinker with demonstrable knowledge of the nonprofit industry and operations strategy?

If so, you may be a great fit to join our Nonprofit Industry Advisor team. This individual will have executive presence with a thoughtful point of view about the nonprofit industry globally. They will understand multiple nonprofit business models, have change management experience, exhibit talent in messaging and communications, strong relationship building skills, and will be comfortable supporting in a sales capacity with senior customer engagements.

The Nonprofit Industry Advisor will roll into the Global Nonprofit Industry Advisor leader who sits in our Nonprofit Solution Engineering organization. This role requires a strong point of view to support strategy for nonprofits, as well as an understanding of industry trends and the importance of messaging for the global market. The role will engage directly with customers, partner with the field sales leadership teams on strategic customer engagements, create industry specific enablement for the sales teams as well as serve as an advisor to the C-level executives at nonprofit brands pre, during and post sales to ensure we hear the voice of the customer and build long term relationships.

The ideal candidate has had C-level leadership responsibility and operational experience at a nonprofit organization. This experience allows them to understand the end to end workings of a nonprofit, pain points, needs and opportunities of the customers we support. They would also have a very clear knowledge and understanding of industry trends and how they translate into the realities of nonprofit organizations. This individual will also have a clear grasp of Salesforce's solutions and capabilities for this market and the ability to present our vision for the industry to a C-level audience.

This individual will primarily support the AMER region, but will also coordinate with the industry and global partner teams across regions. The role is a mix of deep industry knowledge, influence, strategy, account planning partnership and direct account engagement. As part of the global industry advisor team, collaboration with peers around the world to create a global market strategy is a key objective.

This individual will be key in maintaining relationships with Sales, Alliances, Marketing, Enterprise Architecture, and Solution Engineering teams.

We are looking for a proven track record in the following three key attributes:

  • Industry Experience: We are seeking an industry expert with 15+ years working in nonprofit organizations. This expert will have experience with operations and technology strategy at senior levels (C-level), and/or overseeing product and technology teams.
  • Industry Thought Leadership: This individual needs to be well-versed in nonprofit industry technology solutioning and positioning. You need to be a hands-on leader, contribute to the vision for Salesforce within nonprofit customers, engage others in the team with this vision, and co-define the go to market plan for nonprofit organizations. You need to be comfortable creating compelling visions of the future, writing a point of view, creating the overall messaging and building thought provoking presentations that our sellers can use for enablement and in customer meetings. You will need to be comfortable working with various product teams to build solutions. To accomplish this, you will work with Salesforce Product Management, Marketing, Sales, Solution Engineering, Alliances, Customer Success, Enablement, Business Value Services, and Corporate Philanthropy.
  • Solution Ambassador: Our ideal candidate will crisply deliver the industry and Salesforce solutions message across all clouds to customers and prospects in various forums, seamlessly transitioning from speaking to a room of C-level executives to large presentations at industry events.


Primary Responsibilities
 

  • Deal Execution - Partner with Sales leadership to establish executive customer relationships. Support strategic customer point of views and vision creation. Support sales engagement strategy. Support customer discovery meetings and executive presentations.
  • Business Development- Create and support CXO councils. Support and coordinate events (Salesforce events, third party events, partner events). Drive programs alongside business development representatives to generate pipeline.
  • Thought Leadership- Build and deliver industry level enablement for Solution Engineer, Account Executive, and Partner audiences. Create public facing through leadership content including blogs, white papers, podcasts, webinars, etc.
  • Go to Market Support- Support our Products, Marketing, Events, and Alliances team with strategy for Salesforce for Nonprofits Go to Market. This includes creation and advising on subsector and industry plays, consulting on marketing material, and coordinating with the Salesforce events team.


Professional Experience/Skills Desired

  • Deep experience and highly respected within the nonprofit industry.
  • Held an active leadership role in an organization’s digital transformation through the use of technology and business process improvements.
  • Familiar with Salesforce solutions and products.
  • Well versed in overall nonprofit challenges and technology trends (AI, data, digital transformation), and have significant in-depth knowledge and experience in translating trends into successful operational strategies.
  • Strong communication and writing skills and ability to work across business lines.
  • High energy, charismatic, innovative, and creative.
  • Stellar public speaking skills in both small and large scale settings.
  • Proven track record in performing well in a fast paced environment.
  • Proven track record in crafting compelling positioning and thought leadership content.
  • Effective organizational skills to manage competing projects with tight deadlines effectively.
  • Exceptional team player with proven ability to lead through influence.
  • Comfort being an individual contributor within a fast pace sales organization.
  • Ability to travel up to 75% of the time.
