Job Description

Mothering Justice is seeking a passionate and experienced Grants Manager to join our staff as a key member of the Fund Development team, responsible for advancing our national fundraising strategy and supporting the organization’s long-term financial stability. Reporting to the Deputy Director of Strategic Partnerships, the Grants Manager will lead efforts in grant writing, donor engagement, and relationship building, ensuring alignment with MJ’s mission to promote the Mamas' Agenda. This hybrid position blends strategic planning, proposal development, and community engagement, with occasional travel to conferences, events, and funder meetings. The ideal candidate for the Grants Manager role will be a highly motivated and strategic fundraiser with a proven track record in securing substantial grants from institutional, government, and private funders. They will possess strong organizational and project management skills, demonstrating the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines effectively. The candidate will bring a deep commitment to social justice and racial equity, aligning with Mothering Justice’s mission to support mamas and caregivers. They will be a strong communicator, both written and verbal, capable of crafting compelling proposals and building lasting relationships with donors and stakeholders. The ideal candidate will thrive in a hybrid work environment, balancing remote tasks with in-person engagement at conferences, events, and community gatherings. They will also be highly collaborative, with the ability to work effectively across teams, contributing to the organization’s overall fund development strategy. Key Responsibilities: - Lead the development and submission of compelling grant proposals to institutional, government, and private funders, with a focus on securing multi-million-dollar funding opportunities. - Develop and implement donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies to build and maintain a strong pipeline of funders and supporters. - Contribute to and execute fund development plans that align with MJ’s broader mission, vision, and strategic goals. - Maintain and update accurate and comprehensive records of funding opportunities, grant proposals, and donor relationships. - Manage and maintain donor and grant data using CRM tools (e.g., Every Action, G-Suite) to ensure efficient and effective tracking of funding opportunities. Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Fundraising, Nonprofit Management, Communications, Public Policy, or a related area is preferred. - 5+ years of experience in fund development, including a proven track record of securing multi-million-dollar grants is required. - Strong understanding of the progressive funder landscape, with experience cultivating relationships with institutional, corporate, and individual donors. - Experience working in nonprofit organizations, particularly those focused on social justice, racial equity, or community organizing. ***Application closes: January 21, 2025 *** ***Anticipated start date: February 13, 2025***
