About Us:

Water at Work Ministry is a Christian nonprofit organization dedicated to providing clean water and sharing the Living Water of Jesus Christ in the Dominican Republic. Since 2012, we have combined advanced water purification technology with local church partnerships to create sustainable, community-driven solutions. With six operational water plants (and a seventh launching in 2025), we reliably produce over 150,000 gallons of clean water monthly. Position Overview:

Water at Work Ministry is at a pivotal moment in its journey, poised to expand its impact and bring clean water to even more communities in the Dominican Republic. We are seeking a visionary and dynamic Executive Director to lead this transformation. This individual will play a critical role in propelling the organization into its next phase of growth by prioritizing fundraising and networking as the foundation for success. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will serve as a critical fundraiser, relationship-builder, and strategic leader, ensuring sustainable growth while strengthening our mission-driven programs.

The ideal candidate will be a passionate advocate for our mission, with proven expertise in cultivating donor relationships, securing funding, and building strategic partnerships. They must also possess strong nonprofit management skills and an ability to inspire stakeholders across diverse cultural contexts. This position is Atlanta-based but open to remote candidates who can travel to the Atlanta area and Dominican Republic as needed.

 

Key Responsibilities:

1. Fundraising and Networking

  • Serve as a critical catalyst for fundraising, cultivating relationships with donors, businesses, foundations, service clubs, and other key stakeholders.
  • In cooperation with Director of Donor Relations, develop and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies to secure resources for all aspects of Water at Work’s operations.
  • Leverage personal and external networks to expand donor engagement and ensure long-term financial sustainability.
  • Represent Water at Work Ministry, articulating its mission and impact compellingly to diverse audiences.
  • Build strategic partnerships that align with organizational goals and amplify our reach.

2. Strategic Leadership

  • Collaborate with the Board of Directors to refine and execute a visionary strategic plan that positions Water at Work for long-term growth.
  • In cooperation with Director of Operations, develop annual operational plans with clear Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) aligned with organizational goals.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation and expansion within our water plant business model while maintaining alignment with our faith-based mission.

3. Financial Management

  • Oversee the development and management of annual budgets for U.S. and Dominican operations.
  • Ensure financial accountability by implementing sound fiscal policies that support economic sustainability across all water plants.
  • Work closely with Fundación Water Work (our Dominican partner) to ensure effective financial stewardship on-site.

4. Staff Development and Organizational Management

  • Manage U.S.-based staff while fostering collaboration with Fundación Water Work’s local leadership team in the Dominican Republic.
  • Cultivate a work culture rooted in Christian values, empowerment, and accountability.
  • Provide mentorship and leadership development opportunities for team members.

5. Program Oversight and Advocacy

  • Oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of water plant projects in partnership with Fundación Water Work.
  • Advocate for Water at Work’s mission by building awareness about our unique approach to combining clean water access with gospel outreach.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Personal faith in Jesus Christ aligned with Water at Work Ministry’s statement of faith.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience from an accredited institution.
  • Demonstrated success in fundraising, donor relations, or similar roles requiring high-level networking skills.
  • Excellent cross-cultural communication abilities.
  • Ability to travel to the Dominican Republic multiple times per year.

Preferred:

  • 5+ years of nonprofit management experience, ideally in international development or water-related fields.
  • Master’s degree in Nonprofit Management, International Development, or related field.
  • Experience working with faith-based organizations or churches.
  • Familiarity with water purification technologies or public health initiatives.
  • Spanish proficiency is a plus.

 

Compensation:

$80,000-$95,000 depending on experience; includes paid vacation, flexible schedule, health insurance.
