Job Description

The Director of Spiritual Care at Baptist Health will manage spiritual care provision across the system’s three hospitals. A strong emphasis will be placed on building and maintaining productive collaborations with community clergy and congregations. The Director will also provide guidance and mentoring for spiritual care as well as healthcare staff, along with service on appropriate system-wide and hospital committees.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and develops working relationships with local congregations.
  • Directs the activities of Chaplains and other staff as assigned; monitors performance and clarifies work expectations, clinical assignments, and assists with goal setting; promotes cooperation among individuals and groups.
  • Develops and implements processes through recruitment, orientation, training, education, and evaluation to ensure that the competence of all staff members is assessed, maintained, improved and demonstrated throughout their employment.

Job Requirements
Requirements

Master’s degree in theology, ministry, biblical studies, or pastoral care / counseling from an accredited institution, with a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) preferred.
Endorsement and board certification (or eligibility)
Minimum 5 years in pastoral ministry; healthcare chaplaincy strongly preferred
Experience in spiritual care leadership preferred


Indicators of excellence

Experience in cross-institutional community collaborations
Skill in navigating facility and system-wide institutional structures and needs
