We are proud to support our students' personal development and academic endeavors while providing a safe and comfortable living environment.Our department is a large and complex organization supporting over 8,700 on-campus residents among 49 traditional halls, suites, and apartments, some of which were constructed for the 1996 Summer Olympics. Our team of 200+ professional staff and 300+ student staff from six departments support residents directly and indirectly with their unique talents. We are housed within the Student Engagement and Well-Being division, that includes many student service offices.

Job Summary

The Director of First Year Wellness and Engagement will provide direction and management of the First Year Wellness Experience and corresponding signature events, including large scale, multi-event programming such as Week of Welcome, and on-going well-being programming for first-year students. Oversee the administration of engagement programs and operational initiatives, while collaborating with other stakeholders and organizations within housing/residence life and across campus. Collaborate with SEWB Communications to develop comprehensive communication strategies for events; utilizing multiple platforms of communication. Create benchmarks, analyze, track and maintain data related to the engagement programming to ensure desired outcomes are achieved.This position will interact on a regular basis with: faculty, staff, students, vendors and contractors.This position typically will advise and counsel: staff, vendors and contractors, students.This position will supervise: staff.

Key Responsibilities

1. Develop Week of Welcome programming to effectively engage new students with each other, their new campus home, and the city of Atlanta.

2. Serve as chair of Week of Welcome planning committee, collaborating with other campus partners to effectively plan and execute events.

3. Coordinate the overall schedule and plan for Week of Welcome including space management, relocation of services, and strategic scheduling of large-scale programs and events.

4. Work with space reservations and appropriate campus staff to ensure that events have necessary approvals and are held in appropriate spaces.

5. Effectively execute First-Year Wellness Initiative plan for residential and non-residential students; creating inaugural kick-off programming to coincide with Week of Welcome and overseeing the signature monthly events that highlight featured dimension.

6. Provide ongoing program management support throughout the academic year working closely with all stakeholders on development, implementation, and assessment/ reporting.

7. Effectively communicate, in collaboration with SEWB Communications Team, all engagement programming to campus, new students, families, and other stakeholders. Build, manage, and update the Guidebook schedule, advertisements, and informative content. Identify new technologies for engagement communication and tracking.

8. Manage Week of Welcome email inbox with questions from incoming students, families, event planners, corporate partners, and campus partners.

9. Collaborate with Office of Development to seek sponsorships for Week of Welcome and First-Year Wellness programming

10. Collaborate with unit, cabinet and divisional financial teams to develop and adhere to budgets.

11. Assess engagement programing effectiveness in building community and helping students feel more connected to Georgia Tech.

12. Manage overall budget for this initiative.

Work Format

Flexible working hours will be required, including weekends and evenings, especially during peak operational periods like the summer. A hybrid/ flexible working arrangement will be discussed with your supervisor.

Salary Range

The estimated salary range for this position is $83,700- 113,800 per year, commensurate on experience.
