Our small independent church is in the special rural community of Deepstep, which is a small suburb of Sandersville, GA located in the central part of the state.
About the Senior Pastor:
The Pastor will lead the church with spiritual maturity reflecting the character of Christ in both his/her private and public life. He/she is responsible to the Lord and the church to primarily proclaim the gospel and teach the bible and will have a passion for the growth of God's Church. He/she is to be engaged in pastoral care, provide supervisory and administrative leadership in all areas of congregational care including paid and volunteer staff.

The Pastor will have a firm grasp on the purpose, values and strategy of the church and the ability to align ordained and lay staff and key leadership teams with its mission. The Pastor will offer pastoral leadership to the congregation alongside clergy and lay ministers. The Pastor will ensure that the systems, practices, and policies of the church responsibly and effectively support its ministry activities.

Born-again, baptized believer who loves the Lord.

Fulfill the scriptural qualifications of a leader found in I Timothy 3 and Titus 1.

Possesses a proficiency in biblical theology and the ability to convey biblical truth to all age groups.

Prepares sermons by researching and writing about how to present Bible lessons to the congregation to meet their spiritual needs

Officiates at special occasions in the lives of the congregation, such as confirmations, weddings, baptisms and funerals

Responsible for strategic planning in the execution of the church’s purpose by defining strategic goals/vision and implementing the plan by monitoring the spiritual pulse of the congregation through review and accountability.

Plans and conducts worship services: prepares and delivers sermons and leads observances of the church by-laws.

Assists in the administration of the church through appropriate committees and church leadership, and ensures the completion of ministry, business, facility, and logistical support functions.

Willingness to engage the local community and support of church's ministries and missionaries.

Leads the church in an effective evangelism program and in a caring ministry for those in the church and the community.

Leads an effective program of visiting sick and shut-in members and prospects.

Actively engaged in planning, organizing, directing, coordinating and evaluating all church programs and ministries in conjunction with the Church Council

Serves as the leader in seeking to win the unsaved and un-enlisted; lead the membership in soul winning training.

Plans and promotes periods of evangelistic emphasis for the unsaved and renewal for the Christians.

Files monthly reports to the Church Council on ministry accomplishments and activities.

Represents the church in civic matters.

Works with Church Council and other church leadership as they perform their assigned responsibilities.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities

A deep commitment to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Theology degree from an accredited institution preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

A minimum of 3-5 years of pastoral experience in a similar role, with a proven track record of effective leadership, ministry development, and community outreach.

Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to connect with a diverse congregation and adapt to various ministry contexts.

Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to reflectively listen.

Strong leadership skills, with a passion for empowering others and fostering a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

A deep understanding of and commitment to the Bible, Christian theology, and the [specific denomination] tradition.

The ability to keep information private when working with congregation members to better counsel and comfort church members in times of crisis; a Pastor’s should respect a congregation member’s privacy during and after pastoral counseling

Demonstrated ability to plan/manage multiple priorities, organize events, and work effectively under pressure.
