Villa Rica FUMC is seeking a part time Children's Ministry Director. Located off I-20, VRFUMC is a young, growing congregation in Carroll County. Our core values are worship, education, and mission, and we seek to grow disciples who grow disciples.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Children’s Ministry Director is the primary staff member ensuring that the children of the Church are provided comprehensive and relevant opportunities to grow in their faith. The Children’s Ministry Director will work with the children of the Church as well as their families to build a strong connection to the life of the church. The director is required to be present onsite on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings. Office hours and remote work will be discussed with the senior pastor and SPRC.
SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Ability to work well with a variety of ages and types of persons including, but not limited to, staff, various committee members, volunteers, and members of the Church and community.
- Excellent and appropriate communication skills, with a genuine recognition of the importance of communication.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to organize and effectively present information in one-to-one and small group situations.
- Ability to solve problems in the face of uncertainty.
- Must undergo annual Safe Sanctuaries training.
- Mentoring, confidentiality, maintaining close yet appropriate relationships.
RESPONSIBILITES:
- Coordinate Sunday School for all Children, including gathering supplies for all Sunday School teachers.
- Recruit, train and schedule volunteers to help lead Children’s Sunday School, JAM and the Nursery.
- Schedule, prepare and coordinate all efforts for JAM (Jesus and Me) on Wednesday nights, including supplies and curriculum.
- Help plan and execute activities during the off week of JAM (First Wednesday service).
- Attend Children’s Council Meetings and Staff Meetings.
- Attend Administrative Council Meetings, as requested.
- Lead and Coordinate Vacation Bible School.
- Research, plan, and Chaperone / Lead Children’s yearly retreats.
- Communicate with parents and Church via social media, newsletter, email, bulletins, etc.
- Oversee Children’s Department spending and budgeting.
- Follow the Financial and Facilities policies of the Church.
- Plan and oversee Children’s Ministry annual events and special worship services such as Trunk-or-Treat, Easter Egg Hunt, Children’s Nativity, and other special events as assigned.
- Oversee safe sanctuary training and procedures for Children’s Ministry volunteers.
ACCOUNTABILITY
- The Children’s Ministry Director will report directly to the Senior Pastor.
- The Children’s Ministry Director will be evaluated annually by the Senior Pastor and Staff Parish Relations Committee (SPRC).
COMPENSATION / BENEFITS
- Salary $25,000 annually.
- Expected Hours; between 20-25 hours weekly.
- Currently, health insurance is not offered.
- Vacation, Holidays, Sick Leave, Maternity / Paternity Leave, Funeral Leave, and Personal Leave is addressed in the Church’s General Administrative Policies and Procedures.
- Continuing Education is addressed in our Church policies.
