Duties & Responsibilities:
Student Media:
Serve as the chief advisor to UIC Radio – UIC’s only medium for student media on campus. Directly advise / supervise student leaders of UIC Radio.
Ensures compliance with FCC rules and regulations by reviewing operating logs and licenses and updating files. Trains students to follow FCC rules and regulations.
Assists in the preparation of functional area budgets.
University/Student Event Planning and Production:
Serve as expert on-campus event creation, production, and management.
Direct and lead staff and/or student leaders with the planning and execution of campus wide programs.
Provide direction and leadership for campus wide programs (i.e. Cultural Heritage Months, Flames Finish Strong,
orientation program, new initiatives).
Create and maintain strategic plan for departmental marketing for the Center for Student Involvement.
Collaborate with campus partners, vendors, and community partners.
Financial Management:
Financially responsible for the budgets of the Student Activities Board and UIC Radio, as well as departmental expenses for travel, conferences, etc.
Responsible for reporting and tracking financial transactions within the OBFS systems.
Training and oversee staff on how to submit new vendor forms, miscellaneous vouchers, certificate of insurance, riders, and contracts.
Administrative Responsibilities:
Understands and articulates various federal, state, and local laws and mandates related to Center for Student Involvement.
Establish and maintain relationships with industry influencers and key strategic partners.
Provide and manage overall calendar of programming for Center for Student Involvement.
Work with CSI team to develop and enforce event policies and procedures.
Responsible for Center for Student Involvement annual, monthly reports, and staff weekly updates.
Lead and plan assessments for programming.
Represent the Center for Student Involvement on university wide committees.
Support day-to-day office operations.
Staff Management:
Hire, train, develop, and manage full/part-time staff, graduate staff, and student staff to ensure that a qualified individual to join the team and meet CSI’s mission and goals.
Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Required:
Bachelor’s degree.
A total of three (3) years (36 months) demonstrating extensive experience with event planning on campus, and extensive advising experience of undergraduate students in extracurricular activities and/or student media. (Note: Master’s Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience.)
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Student Affairs/Higher Education with three to five years of progressive experience and skills related to supervision, strategic planning, assessment, goal-setting and implementation of initiatives, programming large-scale events, student leadership development, and financial management at a university/college.
Strong communication skills and responsiveness to emails to provide excellent customer service.
Ability to critical thinking, problem-solving, and interpret policy/procedures to work effectively with team members and campus partners.
Demonstrate a strong work ethic, integrity, initiative, flexibility, high level of productivity, and leadership characteristics to contribute to the UIC experience.
Understanding of Professional Competency Areas for Student Affairs Practitioners.
