Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School (HIES) seeks an experienced educator to serve as Associate Director of College Counseling. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in guiding and supporting high school students through the college application process, providing comprehensive college counseling services, and fostering relationships with both colleges and universities and within the Holy Innocents’ community.
HIES is the largest Episcopal Parish day school in the country, offering a fully accredited college preparatory program for students age three through 12th grade, with a graduating class of approximately 150 students per year.
The College Counseling team currently includes the Director of College Counseling, three Associate Directors of College Counseling and the College Counseling Assistant. The team provides a comprehensive college counseling program to Upper School Families throughout their time in the Upper School, starting with foundational grade-level programming and parent education, leading into individualized counseling that is assigned in the spring of sophomore year. Competitive candidates will have strong interpersonal and public speaking skills, a collaborative attitude, and a desire and willingness to embrace and communicate what makes Holy Innocents’ a special place in which to work and learn.
Employment Type: 10-month, full time. Some travel is required as well as occasional evening and weekend commitments.

Responsibilities:
• Advise and support a group of approximately 30-35 juniors and seniors respectively, and their families, throughout the entire college search and application process, offering personalized support and assistance; host student and family advising meetings and write highly individualized letters of recommendations in support of students
• Work collaboratively as a member of the college counseling team to develop and implement programming that aligns with the school’s mission and student needs, including individual and group counseling sessions, workshops, and presentations related to college admissions, standardized testing, and other topics
• Contribute strategic thinking in reviewing and revising strategies to deliver the best possible college counseling program to HIES students and parents
• Prepare regular communications to families, counselees, advisees, teachers, and other school constituents
• Support the development of college counseling resources, including online tools, databases, and informational materials for students, families, and staff
• Collaborate with faculty and different HIES departments to support students; contribute to the school community at large
• Develop and maintain relationships with college admissions professionals, including hosting college representatives at HIES; maintain up-to-date knowledge of college admissions trends, policies, and procedures to provide accurate and relevant information to students and families
• Participate in professional development activities, conferences, and networking opportunities to enhance expertise in college counseling best practices
Educational and Other Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree or higher (master’s degree preferred)
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in college admissions and/or previous experience as a college counselor working with high school students
• Strong knowledge of college admissions processes, standardized testing, and financial aid resources
• Excellent planning, organizational, and communication skills to support working in a fast-paced environment
• Technological proficiency and willingness to learn new platforms for college counseling and the school
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team and establish rapport with students and families from diverse backgrounds
• Fundamental understanding of and commitment to the HIES culture, mission, and vision
• Collaborative, student-centered focus and ability to work with multiple internal and external parties, including students, families, faculty, staff, and community partners
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards in college counseling practices
