may have just the opportunity for you! Community First United Methodist Church is a young and
growing United Methodist Church in Carrollton, Georgia. Founded in 2024, we embrace new
and creative ways to do ministry as we seek to create environments and ministries that welcome
and involve ALL people as we continually seek the best ways to “Put Community First.” This is a
unique and exciting position for someone looking to begin or continue a journey in full time
ministry. You will spend half your time serving in youth ministry with West Georgia Youth and
Half your time serving the Wesley Foundation at the University of West Georgia. This position
reports to the Director of Youth/Wesley at Community First UMC.
Time: Full Time
Qualifications:
-Minimum of a Bachelors degree
-Understanding and commitment to the teachings of the United Methodist Church
-Flexible and ability to thrive in an ever changing fast paced environment
-Time management. This is a full-time position providing support, direction, and programming for
two different ministries in the youth ministry of Community First UMC (West Georgia Youth) and
The Wesley Foundation at the University of West Georgia. While management will be key, there
is also a great deal of flexibility in the week/work hours.
-Effective in teaching/communicating to teenagers and young adults.
-Ability to effectively build relationships with both middle/high school students as well as college
students.
-Ability to work in a team-based environment.
Responsibilities:
-Assist in long term and short-term planning and operations of West Georgia Youth and UWG
Wesley (Sunday School, Sunday night youth, Bible Studies, Mission Trips, Monday Night
Wesley Worship, Thursday Morning Breakfast, trips and retreats, etc.…)
-Specific responsibilities within each area will be dependent upon the passions and gifts of the
candidate. Ideal candidate will select 2 of areas including Missions, Outreach, Worship, and
Discipleship to primarily focus on.
-Relational ministry. A big part of what we do happens outside the walls of the church. Attending
events of students in youth group (band, sports, plays, etc.…) and helping to create ways to
publicize Wesley on campus at UWG (tabling and other creative ways to promote)
-Administrative responsibilities: predominantly this will include refining an effective social media
strategy for both organizations.
- -Other duties as (Such as Sunday Morning worship responsibilities) as assigned.
Compensation:
Commensurate with experience and there is a housing option that would be included (and
incentivized) should that be a need. There is also great flexibility as well as paid vacation time.
